Eye Magazine’s latest two issues, Eye 96 and Eye 97, centered around art direction and magazine design. We chatted with Editor, John L. Walters and Art Director, Simon Esterson about this two-part special.

Paris Photo is an annual event devoted to photography and French weekly, L’Obs, highlights this occasion with a dedicated issue. We spoke with Creative Director Serge Ricco about last year’s special issue and the publication’s very first one.

BANG! is an annual printed magazine published by illustrator Klaas Verplancke as a unique way to display his work. Utilizing a different art director with each issue, Klaas just finished his second installment. We asked Klaas to tell us more about his new publication.

The California Sunday Magazine’s December Issue is the publication’s first-ever photography issue and focuses on the concept of home in the American West. Earlier this summer, Martha Stewart Weddings ended its quarterly print edition. After 24 years in print—first as an annual publication before moving to a quarterly—the brand will still continue online and will publish an annual Wedding Guide. We asked the quarterly’s final Creative Director, Michael McCormick, who spent the last 6+ years there to share his MSW experience.

This summer, The Rev Journal debuted a brand new redesign and business model to go along with the 2018 Grand Prix Season of Formula 1. He strived to make this book "The Ultimate Guide to Indie Publishing," and included interviews with over 50 magazine makers from mainstream, custom, and independent publications. Volkskrant Magazine's April 14, 2018 issue featured 10 split-run covers designed by "legends and aces from the editorial world." The theme of the issue was "creativity" and Mirko Borsche, Anthony Burrill/Ewoudt Boonstra, David Carson, Wim Crouwel, Paul Faassen, Erik Kessels, George Lois, Rodrigo Sanchez, Richard Turley, and Volkskrant Art Director, Jaap Biemans in collaboration with Anna Kiosse were tasked with tackling the subject.
