Job Description: The Los Angeles Times is seeking an ambitious, imaginative and collaborative senior art director to join its award-winning creative department. Job Requirements:

In this position, you will:
• Design and art direct covers and inside pages for glossy magazine printing, with eight issues expected this year
• Art direct photo shoots in fashion, style, still life and portraits
• Develop and maintain the style manual in conjunction with design directors
• Continue to grow our database of illustrators and photographers, with a focus on finding L.A.-based contributors
• Commission illustrators and photographers
• Coordinate projects for both digital and print
• Lead team meetings
• Create and maintain organizational documents
• Book ads as necessary
• Design additional pages in features broadsheet sections as needed
• Design and art direct for latimes.com and social channels as needed

Requirements:
• At least five years of professional experience as an art director in magazine design
• A portfolio of work that demonstrates excellence in art directing illustrations, typography and photography as well as experience working on photo shoots
• Strong multitasking, organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Strong working knowledge of design software: InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator. CCI Layout Champ knowledge is a plus.
