Job Description: DFWChild seeks a full-time in-house editorial designer to join our creative team. This designer will work alongside and under the direction of the Creative Director. The designer will be responsible for much of the layout of four monthly publications (CollinChild, DallasChild, FortWorthChild, and NorthTexasChild), one bi-monthly publication (Thrive), one biannual publication (Baby) and special supplements (mailers for Guide to Education, The Well Guide, etc). The editorial designer will also be responsible for occasional marketing or advertising collateral and event signage, as well as some web design and email marketing.

Job Requirements:

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Concept and design layouts for FOB and BOB sections of the magazine
  • Assign out spot illustrations
  • Create images for the website and social platforms
  • Help concept and design occasional marketing and social imagery/designs
  • Other duties as assigned

Design a Medical Literary Journal and Change American Medicine

Job Description: The Pegasus Review is a new medical literary journal out of Stanford University. We plan to launch this summer, first online and then in print. 

As we plan our launch, we are seeking a graphic designer and web developer to help build our platform from the ground up. Our publication’s visual aesthetic should reflect its editorial voice. As such, our ideal designer is someone who shares our passion for crafting beautiful stories about medical culture, medical training, and the experience of illness and healing. That said, we prize professionalism and skill above all else, and welcome any applicant who can help us translate our vision to print and the web.

The compensation for this job is a $6000 for the initial platform build, and then $1500/year for ongoing consultation services.

THE JOB ENTAILS:

  • Helping to shape our visual aesthetic. (We have strong opinions, and we welcome a designer who does too.)

THE POSITION:

  • Design and layout of print materials – pre-press preparation and web publishing
