Senior Designer, The Hollywood Reporter

Job Description: The Hollywood Reporter, known for its award-winning journalism, is adding an imaginative, collaborative, inspiring and ambitious Senior Designer to our award-winning creative department. This role involves a combination of designing pages for the print magazine (including creating illustrations and charts to accompany stories) as well as some digital crossover.

The Hollywood Reporter is a fast-paced environment often focused on breaking news, so the candidate must be able to work quickly and efficiently while maintaining a high level of quality.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design layouts for The Hollywood Reporter, from the front-of-book pages to features to packages.

  • Commission illustrations, as well as create in-house illustrations

  • Team with photo producers to art direct photoshoot retouching.

  • Creatively design infographics and data visualization for stories.

  • Collaborate with THR.com team to best translate print pages to digital

  • Work extensively with the Adobe Creative Cloud suite of programs as well as the K4 Publishing System

Job Requirements:

REQUIREMENTS

  • 3-5 years of experience designing a print magazine or similar type of publication

  • Demonstrated experience with tight design deadlines

  • Must be proficient working with complicated typographic hierarchies, with a portfolio of examples

  • Strong type skills and knowledge of grid-based design work

  • Strong skills in Adobe Creative Suite

  • Experience with stock photo research
