Job Description: The Art Department at Variety is currently looking for a Production Designer to join the team. This person will join a team of creative, collaborative, award-winning and passionate people, who love producing innovative, smart, and engaging visuals in a fast-paced, news-centric environment on a weekly basis. This position has enormous access and growth potential and all talented candidates will be considered.

Responsibilities: 

  • Design innovative and dynamic pages for the print and digital magazine

  • Design banners and buttons for the Variety website and social media and work with the Creative Director on integration of graphics to video content

  • Assist our senior art directors on large projects

  • Self-sufficiently manage back end production on all content

  • Color correct photography and minor retouching

  • Report to the Creative Director on day-to-day management of workload and output

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • BFA in graphic design, similar degree or qualified experience 

  • Expertise in the following software is required: InDesign, Photoshop and Wordpress

  • All candidates must be detail oriented

  • Highly organized and deadline driven, with good project and time management skills

  • Some knowledge of photography principles and illustration styles

  • Interest in the music and entertainment industry
