Graphic Artist, Fortune
/Job Description: Fortune is seeking an experienced and talented designer to join its award-winning design team on a temporary basis to create visual graphics for our brand websites to enhance the visual aesthetic of each brand. The ideal candidate is an inspiring, versatile editorial graphic designer with at least three years’ experience and a great portfolio of digital work.
You should be a gifted visual storyteller who knows how to translate a brand vision into compelling photo illustrations and graphics to build audience and deepen engagement. You should have hands-on experience maximizing creative tools, including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign and always be on the lookout for new tools to bring content to life across digital channels.
You should be able to thrive in a fast-paced newsroom, juggling daily and weekly deadlines. Fortune highly values teamwork, so a collaborative approach is required.
This role is based in New York City out of our headquarters. Some in-office time will be required.
Job Requirements:
3+ years in an editorial department or newsroom role
Excellent journalistic judgement and integrity
Knowledge of news, business, finance a plus
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced newsroom, juggling daily and weekly deadlines
A gifted visual storyteller with experience producing different genres of photo illustrations and graphics
Attention to detail in matching photos and creating visuals to tone of each article and in assembling caption and credit information
Proficiency with Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign required. After Effects and WordPress a plus
Social media–savvy
A self-starter, unafraid to ask questions
A team player and great communicator
An existing network of artists with an ability to identify fresh and emerging talent
