Freelance Photo Editor, Harvard Business Review
/Job Description: Harvard Business Review seeks a Freelance Photo Editor to assist with daily photo research.
Job Requirements: The Freelance Photo Editor supports the Senior Photo Editor in performing photo research for daily articles on Harvard Business Review’s homepage, in addition to designing custom image solutions, formatting social media posts for the art department’s Instagram page and performing daily administrative tasks related to maintaining the HBR voice and brand on digital platforms.
The right candidate will be resourceful, have a passion for all forms of photography, and have the ability to use found photography in creative and original ways to illustrate complex and often non-visual ideas.
This is an hourly and remote contractor position with a maximum of 15 hours per week.
What you’ll do:
Perform photo research under daily deadlines, including licensing and formatting photos for web stories
Create custom image solutions or manipulations for the web
Upload images into WordPress, as well as organize and maintain databases of digital image files
Reconceive imagery published in the print edition for social media
Format headshots for the website as needed
What we’re looking for:
Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop is essential; Illustrator, After Effects as well as familiarity with WordPress is a plus). This includes understanding image file formats and formatting images for digital environments.
Excellent photo research skills, and knowledge of Creative Commons Licensing and resources
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent time-management skills with an ability to meet deadlines and turn work around quickly
