Job Description:

I. Job Summary | Major goals and objectives.
Design of front of book and editorial features for Allrecipes print magazine. This includes photography planning and art direction, designing layouts, hiring illustration, and general production of Allrecipes Magazine. This position also will design and produce MPP magazines under the Allrecipes brand as directed by the Meredith Premium Publishing Executive Creative Director and Allrecipes Design Director. The main focus of this position is to assist the Design Director for the Allrecipes brand in print only.

II. Essential Job Functions

  • 70% - Design and coordinate all visual elements, including photography, for assigned MPP products or Allrecipes magazine. Work with the editorial departments in developing visual concepts and story ideas for assigned stories or sections.

  • 30% - Monitor workflow procedures including tracking documents, design budgets, and freelance invoices. Assist the Allrecipes Design Director and MPP Executive Creative Director in day-to-day supervision of assigned MPP titles.

  • Education: Bachelor or Arts degree in graphic design or equivalent degree from a four-year design school program.

  • Experience: Minimum three years’ professional design experience.

  • Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Experienced in application and direction of design, photography, and production for magazines. Position requires an understanding of the editorial direction of each product and the design styles most appropriate to each. Working knowledge of Macintosh computers, Adobe Creative Suite publishing software, and social media application software very useful.

  • % Travel Required (Approximate): Less than 10%
