Art Director, The Daily Front Row - Immediate Availability

Job Description: The Daily Front Row is seeking a remote freelance Art Director with a strong visual aesthetic and a love for fashion. You will be reporting to our Creative Director and collaborating remotely with him and our editors. Responsibilities include designing editorial layouts as well as providing creative support for marketing, sales and event collateral.

  • Art Direct and design approx. 12-15 pages per issue, an average of 10 issues per year

  • Provide input, art direction and development of event collateral as well as brand marketing/ sales collateral.

  • Collaborate and coordinate with the photo editor as well as the image specialist on all in- book photography and artwork.

  • Coordinate with editors to ensure that art and layout design are appropriate for content.

  • Prepare all finalized layouts within InDesign for press before handing off to production.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor of arts in design or similar degree

  • At least 4 years of editorial magazine layout experience.

  • A strong portfolio that demonstrates excellence in art directing editorial layouts and typography.

  • Expert knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Photoshop; good working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Dropbox.

  • Must be self-efficient and highly organized with the ability to work at a fast pace.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to be flexible and to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment. Typically, more than 80% of the magazine is designed within a span of 2 weeks.

  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously

  • You are highly creative and passionate about typography, design, and fashion. You are a positive, straightforward and effective communicator.
