The Atlantic is looking for an Associate Photo Editor to join the newsroom. This role will primarily focus on photography for the print magazine, and provide support as needed on digital projects. The ideal candidate will be highly creative and a driven problem-solver with sound journalistic judgment and superb aesthetic taste. This candidate should have strong research and assigning capabilities for photography in all genres, excellent communication skills, and industry knowledge.

The primary responsibilities will be to research, conceptualize and commission or license photography for the print magazine (as well as all other platforms it will appear on), and to provide support on workflow, billing, contracts and other photo logistics, including collaborating with the design and production teams on the translation of print photography to the website.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding and appreciation for photography and photojournalism. They should have a wide range of knowledge about photography and visual storytelling and be able to identify a diverse array of photographers to contribute to The Atlantic. They should be a clear communicator and a highly collaborative team player. They should be detail oriented to ensure assignments meet our editorial standards on our timelines. The associate photo editor will report to the Director of Photography and will work closely with the entire art department and the larger newsroom.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SKILLS
