Job Description: The Art Department at V Magazine is looking for a detail-oriented designer/art director with enthusiasm for typography, magazines, and fashion. Experience with motion graphics is essential. The Art Department designer will assist with digital design (including animated graphics), magazine design for V and VMAN, concepting, visual research, event design, creation of product mock-ups, image retouching, and general support for the art team. This is a great opportunity to work on a wide range of projects as part of a small team in a fast-paced environment.

Deputy Art Director, New York Magazine

Job Description: New York is seeking a seasoned magazine designer to join our award-winning design team as a Deputy Art Director. Under guidance of the Design Director, the Deputy Art Director is responsible for a wide range of editorial design assignments for the creation and production of our bi-weekly magazine. 

  • Responsible for 1-2 features per issue, and section layouts as needed (e.g. Culture Pages, Intelligencer, Cut, Strategist, etc.)
  • Lead design for special issues, large editorial feature packages, and special section packages.
  • Commission illustrations as needed.
  • Iterate several layout options that inform editorial structure and photo selections.
  • Contribute to the team’s creative power through fine art, illustration, and typographic exploration, research, and discovery.
  • Collaborate with art directors, photo editors, editors, and other staff to meet tight deadlines.
  • Other duties and editorial projects as assigned by manager.

Job Requirements: 

  • 5+ years in print editorial design required
  • Bachelor’s degree

Freelance Editorial Designer, Vanity Fair

Job Description: Vanity Fair’s art department will be redesigning sections of the magazine in the upcoming months. Looking for a freelancer(s) to start as soon as possible. This position is full-time and cannot work remotely.

We are in need of someone to simultaneously help with the workload of the current monthly issue, but also be able to experiment on layouts for future issues. Applicants should be knowledgeable and interested in the Vanity Fair brand, with a passion for journalism and storytelling.
