Staff Designer, Foreign Policy

Job Description: Foreign Policy (FP) is seeking a versatile multiplatform designer and visual communicator to help build FP's brand identity across divisions. We're looking for someone at the intersection of design, marketing, and media who knows how to relay information that draws people in and engages them to stay using clean, compelling visuals. You'll work closely with the creative director and art director — in collaboration with events, podcast, marketing, and social media teams — to craft and iterate visuals to promote FP products. The role includes materials design and branding for our growing events, podcast, marketing, and FP Live divisions.

What you'll do:

  • Brand identity: Iterate and improve FP's visual identity across departments, with an eye toward visuals that adhere to house standards while appeasing a diverse and growing roster of partners in the geopolitical, technology, and NGO space.

  • Events materials creation: Design digital materials for events that anticipate platform-specific needs for use on ForeignPolicy.com, on social media, and during events and FP Live. (Experience producing assets for streaming events, video, and in-person large-scale installations is a bonus.)

Candidates must upload a design portfolio link or pdf. Submissions without relevant work samples will be disqualified.

  • Proficiency with Adobe Suite products, especially Indesign, Photoshop, XD, and Illustrator.

  • Attention to detail and proven record of project management.

  • Ability to be self-led while collaborating closely and nimbly with a small team in a fast-paced news production environment will be essential to success in this role.
