Newspaper Designer, The Las Vegas Review-Journal
Job Description: The Las Vegas Review-Journal, Nevada's largest news organization, is seeking a talented page designer to join our award-winning presentation team. Applicants should be creative, enthusiastic visual story-tellers with a track record of delivering vibrant print layouts and strong digital presentation skills. This position involves designing pages for news, features and sports, and requires working some evenings and weekends.
Job Requirements: The ideal candidate should have:
A strong sense of how to enhance reader experience with expert design and presentation.
A compelling portfolio that demonstrates bold, clean design; creative solutions; and a nuanced understanding of typography.
The ability to recognize and advocate for excellent photography, illustration, graphics and alternative story forms.
At least three years of experience working as a print designer for a newspaper, magazine or other publication.
Proficiency in Adobe Suite.
An interest in developing coding and digital story-telling skills
Prior experience with online presentation or copy editing is a plus
Excellent communication skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines
A collegial and collaborative attitude
